Holidays in DC
I absolutely love love LOVE December in DC! The air is perfectly crisp and everyone is bustling with all the holiday cheer. I'm literally counting down to the end of my finals so I can join everyone in holiday cheer! But if you're ready for all the goodness, I've gathered some of my absolute favorite things to do in DC during the holiday season!
While it's lighting ceremony might have been a bust, the National Christmas Tree is always a sight to see regardless of who is living in the White House. Take a stroll down the mall and see it in all it's light and glory.
My favorite event of the holidays! Three 7th Street bars in Shaw transform themselves to stunning Christmas inspired spaces. With holiday themed drinks and snacks. This pop up bar is the place to be. But be warned the lines are long, bring coffee because you'll be standing in line for a few hours. But it's SO worth it!
Until Christmas Eve 7th and F will be covered with tents full of some of the best vendors! Made in DC art, gorgeous jewelry, cheeky home decor and, the yummiest treats to hold you over! I look forward to this market yearly!
Georgetown gets an artsy makeover every year around the holidays as installations of their light sculptures make their way all over the neighborhood. The exhibit will be up until January 7th! And as a special treat on December 14th all the amazing retailers will stay open late for the Glow All Night event!
Visit the National Zoo where the entire space has transformed into the most pretty twinkly lights. Perfect for any animal lover. Also, very kid friendly! If you're looking for a grown up version there's also a Brew Lights happening where adults can get some yummy mulled wine and spiked hot chocolate.
DC's newest neighborhood and fast becoming a favorite. The Warf has an abundant of events lined up throughout the Holiday season that are perfect for everyone! From boats lit up with twinkle lights, retail shops, delicious restaurants, ice skating and, something dangerous known as Nog Fest. A visit to the Warf this holiday season is a must!
Visit the Botanical Gardens (for free!) and see some amazing sculptures and replicas of all the national monuments in DC. It's no secret I have a thing for museums and the holiday season is the time to visit!
Decorated to the nines City Center is one of my favorite stops in the city year round, but during the holidays it's something special. Gorgeous Tree, luxury shopping and, the yummiest restaurants. A must see!
